At DCM Designs, I worked as a Junior Architect on the early-phase design of a nine-building data center campus in Hubbard, Texas. The project aimed to optimize spatial and energy efficiency by comparing conventional layouts with emerging configurations used for Artificial Intelligence (AI). This included open halls with varied rack densities, and for this, we studied multiple planning strategies across buildings ranging from 350,000 to 500,000 sq. ft., evaluating how to accommodate up to 200,000 MW per building. Layouts were tested with maximum rack capacities, including modules using 25kW and 50kW per rack.
My responsibilities included Revit modeling, space planning, and coordination with clients, structural engineers, and MEP consultants. I also conducted comparative analyses to assess capacity performance and long-term adaptability. This project deepened my understanding of scalable infrastructure, iterative workflows, and regional code and climate considerations unique to Texas.
